Bangkok – 20 March 2023 – SAIC Motor-CP and MG Sales (Thailand), manufacturer and distributor of MG cars in Thailand, announces the launch of the NEW MG ES, a 100% electric station wagon created and designed under the “COMFORTABLE: Be Everything for Every Moment” concept. With the company’s commitment to introduce quality vehicles to the market, the NEW MG ES is distinguished for its New ERA Design featuring a modern look with a touch of luxury, spacious cabin room, full functions, new-generation electric motor and superior safety. Targeting the new generation of consumers who have different lifestyles, the new model ensures minimal yet elegant design with improved comfort and utility.

Reaffirming its position as the leader in electric vehicles in Thailand, MG adds into its EV portfolio the NEW MG ES, a 100% electric station wagon outstanding for its spacious cabin room and functions that ensure comfort, new EV driving experiences and better practicality in response to different lifestyles.

NEW ERA DESIGN: Innovative yet luxuriously minimal look packed with functions that respond to all lifestyles

The model comes with new Light Curtain Design front grille and headlights for a more stylish look, plus a Roof Rail with maximum load capacity of 75 kilograms. The station wagon design ensures large cabin space and the luggage area of 1,367 liters. The interior is elegantly decorated with ENERGETIC BLUE STRIP and leather seats with DENIM TEXTURE DESIGN for a modern look and easy maintenance. The newly-designed leather seats also come with Zero-G Seats ergonomic technology for passengers ideal for long-distance rides.

e- PERFORMANCE: EV station wagon with superior and comfortable driving experience

The NEW MG ES features the most advanced transmission platform that is smaller in size and lighter in weight but promises 53% more efficiency. The new-generation 8-LAYER HAIR PIN PERMANENT MAGNETIC SYNCHRONOUS MOTOR (PMSM) gives a maximum power of 177hp and a maximum torque of 280 Nm. With improved throttle response that promises the acceleration rate of 15,000 RPM, the NEW MG ES is able to drive a maximum speed of 185 km/h. The model also comes with Kinetic Energy Recovery System (KERS) available in three levels: high, medium, and low; and the turning circle of only 5.95 meters.

The NEW MG ES also features a Lithium-ion Phosphate (LFP) battery with the capacity of 51 kWh which is 22% lighter, plus the Liquid Cooling System for both electric motor and battery. The battery is able to drive a maximum distance of 412 kilometers on one full charge, according to the NEW EUROPEAN DRIVING CYCLE (NEDC) standard, and is compatible both with Quick Charge (from 0% to 80% within around 40 minutes at 87 kWh) and Normal Charge (from 0% to 100% within around 7.15 hours at 6.6 kWh up to 11 kWh via MG HOME CHARGER). The model is also equipped with Vehicle to Load (V2L) which enables the vehicle to function as a source of power, providing regular AC power to other appliances at 2,200 watts.

SAFETY in all journeys driven

The NEW MG ES comes with Full Space Frame (FSF) as well as 20 ADVANCED SYNCHRONIZED PROTECTION and ADVANCED DRIVER ASSISTANCE (ADAS) SYSTEMS including Curve Brake Control (CBC), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Emergency Lane Keeping Assist (ELK) and Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS). The model also features the i-SMART system (Lite version) responding to every lifestyle where all commands can be done at customers’ fingertips. The i-SMART features include car status check, car abnormality warning, digital key, emergency call and MG SUPER CHARGE operations via smartphone.

The NEW MG ES is available in five body colors: Arctic White, Black Knight, Andes Gray, Scarlet Red, and Champagne Silver with two-tone interior and DENIM TEXTURE DESIGN.

The NEW MG ES is expected to be delivered to customers from April onwards. As the pioneer and the leader in Thailand’s EV market, MG not only introduces vehicles that are packed with power, premium design and practical functions but also continues to expand the EV ECOSYSTEM so as to build an EV society in the country. With that said, the company expects to expand MG SUPER CHARGE STATIONS in MG showrooms and service centers across Thailand so that they become more accessible among customers. MG will ensure there will be at least one charging station in every 150 kilometers. Furthermore, the company will also join hands with partners to install more Quick Charge stations in provinces as well as prioritizing EV after-sales and maintenance services carried out by specialists at all MG service centers.
