Bangkok – 23rd April 2022 – SAIC Motor-CP Co., Ltd., and MG Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd. authorized manufacturer and distributor of MG cars in Thailand unveiled Q1/2022 performance with 8,394 delivered units or 11 percent increase in comparison with the same quarter last year. For passenger car category in particular, the growth in comparison with the same quarter last year is as high as 24 percent. In addition, MG once again reconfirms its leading status in Thailand’s EV category with 4,500 booked units in just one month after an agreement to become a partner under the government’s EV stimulus policy was penned. To fulfill all demands of consumers and ensure an uninterrupted delivery timeframe, MG would like to assure Thai consumers that bookings for EVs, as well as all other models, are always welcomed with a stable delivery schedule for all models with delivery period for EVs starting from May.

Mr. Pongsak Lertruedeewattanavong, Vice-President of MG Sales (Thailand) Co., Ltd., said “Unlike the first quarter of 2021, the recent Bangkok International Motor Show and a stimulus policy for EVs by the government are reasons behind lots of activities and movements in Thai auto industry in the first quarter of 2022. We delivered 8,394 units in the first quarter of 2022 or 11 percent increase compared to the same period last year. For passenger car category, up to 24 percent increase in quarterly sales is a notable highlight resulted from the release of ALL NEW MG5. The recently announced stimulus campaign truly benefits our performance. In fact, MG is the first brand that agree to the government’s call to be a part of the campaign. In terms of EVs, our stance as a true leader of the category in Thai market is strong with 4,500 booked EV units including NEW MG ZS EV with a ratio at 40% and MG EP with a ratio at 60% in just one month after the stimulus program is in effect in which the price of an EV is subsidized by the government for up to 246,000 baht.

MG will start delivering EVs to customers with bookings from May and interested or prospect customers are always welcome to place their orders with us. In estimation, those placing orders with us today will get their cars delivered around the fourth quarter of this year. MG would like to thank every customer for their interest in our EVs during the past few years and in years to come. For the second quarter of 2022, MG believes automotive industry in Thailand will gradually recovered based on return of spending of consumers in general with an estimation of 15 percent in growth compared to the same period last year.
