EVs, or Electric Vehicles, are 100% powered by electricity instead of petrol or diesel. The electricity is stored in rechargeable batteries that power the electric motors directly. One of its greatest benefits is that it can utilize its maximum torque from launch resulting in superior acceleration. And by placing the battery underneath the floor, the vehicle’s center of gravity is extremely low and therefore benefits stability while cornering.

Because EVs are electrically powered, the cabin is whisper quiet. EVs also are more environmentally friendly than conventional vehicles because they don’t emit polluting exhaust while in operation.

EVs have 3 primary components working in unison: the battery (E-Battery), the electronic control system (E-Control) and the electric motor (E-Drive). From the source of electrical power, the batteries, the car is propelled forward by the electric motors while the electronic control system manages the overall operations. The operation of our EVs are also extremely straightforward as there are no worrisome parts and systems in the engine, which makes maintenance easier. The result is greater savings for consumers in both maintenance costs and fuel, as electricity is a lot cheaper than petrol or diesel.
MG has also improved the electric motor with the Hair-Pin Widing Design, a technology that helps reduce heat from electric motors, thereby helping the motor run at maximum efficiency. Drivers will be able to immediately tell the difference as there is no acceleration delay for electric motors like there is in conventional internal combustion engines.
Your safety and peace of mind is also assured as our electronic control system has met the highest safety standard in the world with certification from ASIL-D and ISO26262.

The Evolution of EV.

Automotive manufacturers have comfort, safety and performance as design goals. And ever since cars were mass manufactured in the early 20th century, these 3 factors have been continuously improving. But 1973 changed the mindset of many manufacturers. Countries around the world were faced with an oil crisis that made the price of petrol and diesel skyrocket. Manufacturers and engineers around the world scrambled to find a solution and the Hybrid Electric Vehicles and Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles were born. These vehicles were powered with a hybrid mix of petrol or diesel and electricity.

But progress waits for no one. With better technology and the growing awareness of the climate change emergency, better solutions were required. As a result, MG developed a 100% electricity powered Electric Vehicle (EV). These zero-emission, eco-friendly vehicles save more in fuel costs compared to any other comparable technology. MG vehicles are equipped with high-performance batteries that provide up to 337 kilometers* in driving range while taking less time to charge.**

Lithium-ion batteries: gearing up for the future

Another key driving force for the MG ZS EV is the lithium battery. Continuous development has resulted in lithium batteries becoming smaller and more powerful, giving EVs increased range. As the battery density increases, the power and energy storage has also increased, thereby offering drivers an incredible range of 337 kilometers*** on one charge. Batteries can now also be charged at any time, even if it isn’t fully depleted. MG has also innovated Intelligent Battery Temperature Control Management System, a system that helps batteries run at maximum efficiency in all environments.

In addition, MG’s electric batteries also meet the strictest safety standards, with UL2580 certification. This is the US’s most stringent battery safety test that requires batteries to successfully pass the 8 following criteria: short-circuiting, dust-proofing, battery compression, resistance to corrosion from salt water, immersion in water, combustion, collision and shock. MG’s batteries have also successfully passed the IP67 battery test. The battery is submerged in water at a depth of one meter for 30 minutes, and when brought up, the battery continues to work normally.

in 3 different ways.

Charging Cable

All MG ZS EV cars come equipped with an emergency MG Charging Cable. When required, the emergency charging cable should only be connected to a grounded outlet. Only the emergency charging cable should be plugged in; do not use any other electrical equipment in the same wiring circuit. Your setup should be inspected by a skilled electrician. For your safety, it is strictly forbidden to attach the emergency charging cable to a power strip of any kind.

MG Home Charger

MG Home Chargers have been designed to be safer, faster and easier to charge, with a 0-100% full charge taking only around 6.30 hours, depending on the battery remaining.

To install your MG Home Charger, please fill-in the relevant forms and contact sales consultant for an appointment. There will be skilled electricians come to your home to check the readiness of the electrical system before install the MG Home Charger.

Public Charging Station

For public charging stations, you will be able to do both a Normal Charge via a Type 2 charger and a Quick Charge with a CCS charging port. A 0-80% Quick Charge will take approximately 30 minutes, depending on the amount of power remaining in the battery.
